Is there parking space for cars?

Yes, we have a free parking area. About 10 cars can be parked there on a first-come, first-served basis.

If our free parking lot is full, you will be asked to park in a nearby toll parking lot ( about 800 yen per day).

There is a parking lot about 200 meters away from our meeting place in the photo above.
Other customers will be using the parking lot, so please park in the lot from the back.

Four medium-sized buses and one large tourist bus can park.

We will reserve a parking space for medium-sized and large buses. Please let us know when you book about your non-normal sized car.

It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the parking lot to our meeting place after parking your car.

Please be careful when coming to the meeting place because the road is narrow and there are many cars passing by.

【Okutama Rafting】BBQ spot near Mitake area

Is there a BBQ spot nearby?

Yes, there is! Here are many of them near here.

If you bring your own BBQ tools, you can BBQ at the start or near the goal of the rafting (Yuzuki no Kawara).

Or, if you leave our parking lot and drive downstream to the left, there is a paid parking lot called “Mitake-enchi Parking Lot” on the left side (maximum 800 yen), where you can park your car and have BBQ along the river.

It may be difficult to find, so please ask our staff when you check-in.

Can you keep the BBQ ingredients?

We are very sorry, but we do not have a refrige to keep the ingredients for you.

Please bring your own cooler box and use some ice packs to keep the food cold And then keep them in your car.

Is there a hot spring or spa nearby?

There are. Here are a few of them.

Kawabe Hot Spring Ume no Yu
About 25 minutes by car from the meeting place of Okutama rafting.

This hot spring is located a 1~2 minute walk from JR Kawabe Station, the nearest station to Kawabe Onsen.

There is a multi-story car park, and the hot spring is easily accessible by train as well, with a rooftop hot spring for relaxation.

About 32 minutes by car from the meeting place of Okutama rafting

It is located about 20 minutes by bus from JR Musashi Itsukaichi Station.

Can I get rafting photos?

We sell them to guests who wish to buy them.

For each boat, the guide will take photos of the rafting trip, and a screening will be held after the trip.

If you like the photos, you can buy them as data for each boat.

【About photoes of Okutama Rafting】

The guide will take about 30~40 photos per boat.

All photo data will be sold for ¥2,000.

【How to share data】

We will put the data into your iPhone via a lightning cable.

Please share it with someone else in your group.

For those who want the data on an SD card instead of on an Android phone or smartphone, we can sell the data on an SD card.

The fee for the SD card is ¥3,000 (tax included).

For security reasons, we do not allow your own SD cards.

【Okutama Rafting】bringing camera, GoPro

Can I bring my camera, GoPro, etc.?

We do not recommend that you bring a camera to the river as you may lose it.
It is also a cause of injury, so it is recommended that you do not bring anything with you.

[About bringing cameras or GoPro]

You can bring your own, but you will surely get wet because there is a torrent that will cover your head with water.

We have had many guests who have lost theirs, so we do not recommend it.

Any malfunction or loss is your own responsibility. Please understand this in advance. We cannot keep any items you bring.


Our guides will take pictures of you on the boat.

The photos will be for sale, but we hope you will consider purchasing them as they will be a memorable experience.

If you have a photo you would like to have taken, please feel free to make a request to the guide!

【Okutama Rafting】White water rafting boat

How many people can ride on one boat?

This is an 8-passenger boat including 7 guests and one of our guides.

Small groups of guests will share a boat with other small groups of guests.

Usually, five, six or seven people will be in one boat, but other guests may be seated in available seats together.

However, on rare days, due to the amount of water or weather conditions on the day of the trip, 6 or 7 people may be split into 2 or 3 boats. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but we apologize if we are unable to do so.

For reservations of 8 or more people, we will split up the boat.

【Okutama Rafting】facilities

Is there a locker for valuables?

Yes,there are some 100yen-lockers for valuables in our changing rooms.

If you bring valuables into the boat, they may fall into the river and get lost or go missing while you are putting on your gear. So please use them.

The service is available for 100 yen per use. Please leave your valuable items in the locker and enjoy rafting.

Please prepare 100-yen coins. Cashless payment is not allowed.

Are there showers or sinks?

We are very sorry, but there are no showers or sinks.

There is tap water outside and mirrors in the changing rooms.

Are there hair dryers?

There is one hair dryer available in the changing rooms, but the number is limited.

You may bring your own. Mirrors are also available for your use.en

Are there any rental items?

At our meeting place

Shoes (400 yen), goggles, and eyeglass bands (100 yen) are available for rent.
The payment is Japanese yen cash or QR code.

After the briefing, we will give you a wetsuit before you change.
Wetsuits are included in the tour fee and can be rented for free.


Note! Towels, T-shirts, or swimsuits are not rented.

【Okutama Rafting】white water rafting minimum age

How old do I have to be to participate?

Children ages 7 and up may participate

Children ages 7 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Children under the age of 7 may not participate, even if they are fit enough.

We look forward to welcoming you when you are old enough to participate.

For safety reasons, those who meet the age requirements but are under the influence of alcohol, pregnant, or have any other obstacles to rafting will not be allowed to participate. Please be noted.

Rafting Caution

Please be sure to follow the rafting guide’s direction.

If you are not feeling well or if you are injured, please ask our rafting guides or staff for help immediately.


There are many fishermen in Tamagawa River, so please be careful not to snag on the line with your paddle.

Please enjoy the beautiful valley and crystal clear river of the upper reaches of the Tamagawa River!

【Okutama Rafting】time schedule

How long?

About 3 hours, including time to change clothes.

It takes about 1.5 hours to raft a distance of about 4.5 km from up the Tamagawa River.

It depends on season and white water volume.

How early should I arrive?

Come with enough time to spare.

Please be careful when coming by car to Okutama, as it is often crowded from the Hinode IC or Ome IC to our meeting place.

When you arrive, please tell the reception staff the name of your reservation. Our staff will show you around.

If you have enough time to spare before the scheduled time, please use the restroom or take a sunscreen and wait.

If you do not have water with you, there are vending machines available, so please refill your water beforehand.

What do we do after arriving at the meeting place?

After arriving at the meeting place, our rafting guides start the briefing on time.
After the briefing, you change clothes and put on your rafting gear, and walk about 3 minutes to the starting point.

After having to a safety briefing from rafting guides at the starting point, we split up into boats and start our rafting trip! Here we go!

After rafting, a 15-minute ride in our minibus will take you from the finish line back to the meeting point. After changing your clothes, break up!

The breaking up is the time after changing.

Please be careful not to forget anything in the changing rooms when you leave.
